Serve

Just as you did it to one of the least of these, who are my brothers and sisters, you did it to me.    Matthew 25:40

January 2019 is the 50th Anniversary of the founding of ACTS (Action in Community Through Service).  Covenant is one of the 13 founding churches!  On January 20th, Covenant was honored by receiving a plaque from Denise Hemes, Secretary, ACTS Board of Directors.

Covenant’s evangelism (Greek word meaning good news) is experienced through sharing the love of Jesus Christ in word and deed with all the world.  Covenant seeks to alleviate hunger, foster self-development, respond to disasters, support mission works, preach the gospel, heal the sick and educate new generations for the future. We welcome you to join in these activities and grow in the love and understanding of Christ.  A few areas representing where we serve are listed below:

Grief Share. Covenant is joining in this nationwide program to reach out to anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one.

Bill Mehr Drop-In Shelter.  Covenant signs up to periodically provide meals to County drop-in shelter, as part of the local community of churches.

Covenant Keepers. Help local county residents in need one Saturday each month by lending a hand with a small handyman project that can mean so much.

Mission Trip to Disaster Areas. Annual mission trip to locations such as Joplin, Gulf Coast, New Jersey, and West Virginia to aid disaster victims get back on their feet.

Mexico Church Building. Covenant has a long-standing relationship with a church in Playa Del Carmen Mexico, and every year a group spends Holy Week helping with construction.  An excellent experience to witness God’s love first hand with a wonderful congregation of fellow Christians.

Other “Serve” connecting activities include:

Baby Shower for Military Moms

Prison Ministry

Living in Northern Virginia means our time is probably our most valuable commodity. By serving others at Covenant you can be certain your time is not being wasted. Most of our members will tell you they get more out of the experience than they could ever contribute.  Get Involved!
